Birth of Project: Indigo Harvest

Have you ever pretended that George Lucas called you up and said "We're doing Star Wars 7,8 and 9 and I want you to make it"?  Well, I have.  I have been a die hard Star Wars fan for over 30 years.  And, like many of you, I've spent many a night imagining what the next chapter of the Skywalker saga was going to entail.  I have pages and pages of sketch ideas and I've often enacted hypothetical
scenes with my action figures (don't judge me).

With the recent acquisition of Lucasfilm Ltd., Disney announced their commitment to producing the long rumored Star Wars Episodes 7,8 & 9.  The release of Episode 7 is slated for 2015 and news about production is hitting the media at light speed.  Oscar award winning screenwriter Michael Arndt has already been announced as the writer on the initial sequel and odds are a director will soon follow.

So, it probably means that there's a slim to no chance that I'll be able to make those Star Wars movies my way, but it doesn't mean that I have to dump my fanboy dreams!  Recently, I've found myself having lively conversations with other Star Wars fans that consist of things like "I hope they include such and such and I bet yadda yadda yadda makes a cameo" and "If I had it my way, I'd do it like fill in the blank".  It's been very inspiring and energizing to say the least.  So much so, that on the suggestion of a fellow artist, I've decided to launch this blog:  Project: Indigo Harvest!

"What is Project: Indigo Harvest?" you may ask.  Well, I'm not entirely sure yet, but let's pretend George Lucas did come to me and say "I want you and your cohorts to write, design and create the worlds and characters of Episode 7, 8 & 9".  "Well, OK Mr. Lucas" is what I would say.  And then, my first act would be to create this blog where we could catalog and showcase our creations and production progress.  Project: Indigo Harvest will be a portfolio of our collected art and writings.  I'll post design briefs and assignments and we could all come up with some kick-ass creative solutions.

So, if you're game, keep your browsers pointed right here for more info and assignments in the weeks to come and  feel free to share comments, feedback and ideas.  Let's do some art!  May the Force be with you!
